Updated Updates Updates!!! (The NEW news is in Yellow)

Wednesday night bible studies are the Dec. 6 & 13. December 20th, if you would like, we will be meeting to watch the movie The Nativity. Time and theater to be announced later.

Seniors!!!! Monday December 4th (wait!! THATS TONIGHT!!!), there will be a Senior dinner at Scott Jone's house at 7 oclock. Come, hang out, and get some grub!

Saturday December 9th there is a service opportunity for New Covenant Christian Church. We are being asked to supply some things for a children's shelter and possibly do some work on the property of NCCC (cleaning, lawn work - whatever). The children's shelter needs toothbrushes and hairbrushes (especially with cartoon/Disney charachters on them), toothpaste, hair burrettes (whatever they are), sweatshirts, jackets, underwear, colorful toe socks, etc. for kids 13 and under. They can be gently used or new. No toys, please. NCCC is also in need of paper towels/toilet paper.

We will leave from the church around 8:00am and work until 12:30 or 1:00. Bring some money for your lunch (somewhere cheap - $10 should cover it) and then we will go to the Holocaust Museum. We will plan on being back at the church around 6:00pm. If anyone would like to contribute some of the items I mentioned, please bring to church this Sunday December 3rd. Email Jonathan Dziuk at thewild@houston.rr.com or call his cell phone at 281-380-1764 to sign up or for questions.

Sunday Dec 10th first is the CYF CHRISTMAS PARTY!!!!! You need to meet at the church at 4:30 for a SURPRISE SURPRISE!! After, you will be journeying to David Klein's just like last year for a bonfire and fun. Please bring a coat and a $1 wrapped CHURCH APPROPRIATE white elephant Christmas gift. Sad but true, I won't be there as I will be in the Carribean, but have a christmas cookie for me!!

Also, THIS SUNDAY OR WEDNESDAY, please bring a small gift as a stocking stuffer. We are going to be putting together stockings for the bridges kiddos!

Dec. 16th is the Stone Soup Christmas Concert. If you are singing with them, please remember to be attending all rehearsals.

Hello!!!

I hope everyone had a great turkey day!! Here's the deal for the next few weeks:

Wednesday night bible studies are the Nov. 29, Dec. 6 & 13. December 20th, if you would like, we will be meeting to watch the movie The Nativity. Time and theater to be announced later.

Sunday Dec 3rd - There will be NO fellowship because of the concert @ 7 pm. We are going to hang out and have pizza (Anybody want to bring me Christmas cookies??) @ 6 pm before the concert. Please let us know if you are going to join us so we know how much pizza to order.

Seniors!!!! Monday December 4th, there will be a Senior dinner at Scott Jone's house at 7 oclock. Come, hang out, and get some grub!

Also, that same Sunday, please bring a small gift as a stocking stuffer to Sunday school. We are going to be putting together stockings for the bridges kiddos!

Dec. 16th is the Stone Soup Christmas Concert. If you are singing with them, please remember to be attending all rehearsals.

Now, as it is the Christmas holiday, we need to remember that we are servants of Christ. So in turn, this Sunday we are doing the IHN move in after service.

Here are the following reasons why you should stay and help out:
1. It's a good cause
2. You earn disciple points!!
3. You get a chance to serve/pray for the families that will be staying in our church
4. If you don't, Santa will put coal in your stocking...

OK, so the last one isn't really true. Santa loves you all, but I hope you all will stay the extra half hour and help us set up. IHN is a great ministry and you are great kids. We will be meeting right after Sunday school (noon) and get it done. Please come help.

Hope you are having a great week! See you Wednesday or Sunday night for the Concert!!!

Gooble Gooble!! Hey guys!

So, it's finally the week of Thanksgiving! I know I am excited about food, family and fun! (Don't mind my slightly jaded turkey at the top) Remember this week who you are thankful for and don't forget to thank God for all your blessings!

We don't have too much going on this week because we want you to have plenty of family time. There will not be bible study or fellowship this week. I know...cry cause you will miss us!!!

But don't despair!!! We have so much to look forward to in December!
December 10th!!!!!!!!! (not the 3rd) is the Youth Christmas Party!!! Now, you don't get to know too many of the detials, but here's what we need from you. Be at the church at 4:30 ready to leave. Please bring a coat (it will be cold!!) and a wrapped $1 Christmas gift! Get ready to have some fun!!!
December 16th is the Stone Soup Christmas Concert. All those who are singing must have attended the previous rehearsals and the dress rehearsal. Don't forget!!!
There is tons of fun stuff going on outside of the youth department at the church this holiday season you might want to check out:
~Dec. 3 Choir Christmas Concert
~Dec. 9th there is a Christmas sing along by the fountain. I think I heard there is cookies and wassil so...there's some incentive. (Then again, this is coming from the girl who ate 6 mini cupcakes today...)
~Dec. 16th is the stone soup Christmas Concert which some of your fellow youths will be involved in!
Alright, that's all I've got. Have a wonderful turkey day and we will see you guys soon!

Hope you all had fun at the Halloween Party. You guys looked great and did a wonderful job for the little ones! Thanks for helping out and making it a fun time for them! YALL ARE AMAZING!!!

Here are somethings going on this week:

First off, VERY IMPORTANT STUFF: If you are going to SERIVE RALLY (November 17-19) your forms are due NOVEMBER 1ST. They must be notarized!!!!!!!!! Service Rally is a fun event and a great way to earn disciple points. Don't forget that Nov. 1st is this Wednesday.

Sunday evening, November 5th, we will be having Fellowship at 5:30. The following week, we will be going to Champions Roller Worlds from 4-6 for some good old fashion 80's skating. Now, I know some of you weren't around in the 80's, but come on....you've gotta love the skating rink. And I will give a great prize to the person who comes dressed in their BEST 80's garb. So start thinking 80's!!!

Altered, I believe there is a vocalist practice on November 5th. If you can not attend, you MUST let Pappa Frey know. Email him @ jfrey@cypresscreekdoc.org.

And now, a message from your local minister of hockey...

Sunday November 19th the Houston Aeros go up against the Hartford Wolf Pack. Game time is 5:05pm, departing from the church at 3:30, returning by 9pm.

The Aeros have blocked off a section for us and the tickets are $10 each. I will make final purchase of these tickets on Monday November 13th. Anybody who would like to go needs to have paid for their ticket by Sunday November 12th.

Basel's Lock-in and Astros Game and Jello night!!!

Hey All,

Summer is winding down, but not the activities at C4!

This Wednesday is bible study at Linda Nutt's house! Everyone's been there before, so i'm sure you know how to get there! We'll see you at 6:00pm!

This Friday-Saturday we have a lock-in at Basel's Gym.
It is going to coast you $15 and a permission slip (which is available on the previous post, and at the office) It's gonna be a great night, so bring your un-churched friends for an awesome time! We will be meeting at Basel's Gym (west of Starbucks on Louetta; at the corner of Kuykendahl), at 8:30pm. Please bring some sleeping equipment, as you are going to want to get comfy when it gets late.

Also! We have bought 20 tickets for the Astros game versus the SD Padres on the 11th of August!
If you are getting a ride with us, we will be leaving at 5:45pm from the church for the 7:05pm game
If you want to come with us either email me or leave a comment on the blog and let us know that you're interested. We only have 20 tickets so it will fill up fast. There is also a permission slip for this too. You can pick it up at the office.

Finally.....Jello Night is this Sunday night at fellowship! Yes, we all know Jello is a delicious snack, but there is SO much more fun to be had with Jello.....especially on a humid summer's night. This is going to be a fun night: make sure you bring a change of clothes, and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. If that's any indication.....you better be there. It all starts at 5:30pm

Hope you're having a great week, and enjoy the freedom we have in Christ!!

Verse of the Week:
"But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her out into the desert and speak tenderly there. I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope. She will give herself to me there as she did long ago when she was young, when i freed her from her captivity" -Hosea 2:14-15

God Bless you guys!

Change of Plans.....

So camp-out didn't work out....I'm pretty upset, but i think after my 3 hour crying session yesterday, i'm starting to get over it.

And just in time for Friday Fun-Day!!! Instead of going camping we are going down to the Houston Marq*E to play some mini-golf and eat some good food!

Now this isn't any regular mini golf.....this is GLOW IN THE DARK mini-golf. So if you're like me, you're probably going to get an even higher score than what you usually do! But it's going to be a blast.

We will be meeting at Putting Edge at the Marq*e which is on the corner of Katy Freeway and Silber Road

We will be meeting here at the church at 5:00pm if you need a ride, or you can meet us there at 6:00pm. I would recommend bringing about $20 to cover the cost of the golf and any food you want to buy (golf is $8.50 a round, $4.00 for a second round). We will be returning at around 9:30pm

We have room for 9 in our vehicles, so if you need a ride down there you will need to call us and let us know. But be quick because those spots will fill up quick.

Even if you plan on meeting us there, we are going to need a permission slip from you. Hopefully you have already received one by email, but even if you haven't, here is a link to one below. Please fill it out and have it for us when we get there.

Putting Edge Permission Slip

Give me a call if you have any questions (913) 306-2478
Hope to see you there!

God Bless

Tan Day was cool!!!

Hey guys and girls,

So i thought i'd write a post about our service day...."The Tan Day", which ended up being one of my favorite days of the summer so far! Dustin, Jenica, Lindsey D, Sarah and I all went out to a subdivision in Glenwood Oaks; lawn mowers, buckets and soap in tow, and went on a mission to find some houses that would allow us to mow their lawns, and wash their cars....for free, no strings attached.

After trying a couple of houses, we got some wierd looks, angry dogs and suspicious security cameras!! But after about 30 mins of going door to door, we ended up at the house of Bill Story, a professional karaoke singer and married man of 55 and a half years! (to his wife Cookie). When we asked him if he'd like his lawn mowed for free, he was a little skeptical at first. He asked us what our deal was, to which we said "There is no deal, we'd just like to mow your lawn today!". In the background, Dustin and I could hear Cookie listening in, and telling Bill to "Let them at it!!".

So we got to work. Dustin and I started mowing and edging their front yard, and later, Jenica, Lindsey and Sarah came by and washed Bill's car. After we were done with the front yard we did his backyard, and cleaned up a little. Bill was extremely happy to have us wash his car, and do the yard , which he said his son usually does every two weeks. He was very conversational with us after we were done, and even tried to offer us some money. We told him that we wouldn't accept, and that we were just doing it out of the love that God has shown us throughout our lives. He was pretty stunned. He even gave me his card and said he would give us a free show if we ever wanted it. We left for lunch very hungry, and pretty tired since it was a hot day.....which there is only one answer for......Sonic Drinks!!!!

We stopped by Sonic on the way back from the church and got some Route 44's....oh man....way to fix a summer day's heat! I got a strawberry bannana slush, but everyone got something different. Lunch was a good time just to sit down and prepare for the afternoon. We got to talk about our morning a little bit and eat our bag lunches.......mmm sandwhiches!

Once we were done, we went back to the street were we had done Bill's house, and were intent on doing the house next to his, which hadn't had anyone living in it for over a year. We thought it would be a great idea since it would improve the look of the neighbourhood. When we got out there it looked like it was about to rain and thunder, so we thought about just going back to the church.......but not before giving Bill another visit! We thought he might sing a song for us! We knocked on his door and he was really pleased to see us. We asked him if he would sing for us, and although reluctant....he agreed. He sung "What a wonderful world" for us and invited us to sing a song, but we were all kinda shy.

By the time he had sung his song, the weather had cleared, so we got to work on the house next door. We mowed the front lawn, weeded the front garden, cut the overhanging branches on the front path, and cleaned up the sidewalk. But the coolest thing happenned while we were doing all this. There were a couple of boys skateboarding down the street, and had took notice of us cleaning up the yard. But after a while, they came by and asked if they could help too! I was amazed!!! So we said "Yeah sure!" and they came and helped us clean up the yard after we were done.

They hung out with us for a while and we learned their names were Robert and Nick, and they lived around the area. We ended up taking them back to the church so they could skate at our skate park. But by the time we got back it had started to rain! We had to run the mowers inside so they wouldn't get wet, and just as we got done moving them, the heavens opened, and the rain came POURING!! I thought it would be a good idea to go play in it, so we found a flat basketball and ended up kicking it around in the church parking lot......meantime, we were getting drenched, but it was a perfect end to a great day of service to Christ. Those last few moments out in the rain was almost like a thank you from God for the work we had done that day, and it was awesome to be apart of a day in God's creation.

Thanks so much to Dustin, Jenica, Lindsey, Sarah, Bill, Cookie, Robert and Nick for making it such an amazing day! You guys were awesome, and God was sure smiling on us that day!

Rock Climbing!

So after a day of hanging (literally) out with some of my lovely CYF-ers, I got in my car to head home and a song came on. It made me think and really completed my day. Everything got put into perspective: the climbing, depending on another person so you won't fall, and then the sense of accomplishment in reaching the top all seemed to be tied together with this verse/song (I'm sure you all know it...)

Psalms 36:5-6

Your love, Oh Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountain, your justice like the great deep.

Spend your week climbing with God. (c:

Love you guys! Kristin

Verse O' the Day!!!

OK....so i'm sitting in the youth office, thinkin about what to do next....Dustin and Lindsey are sitting next to me, so i thought I'd get them to give me a Verse O' the Day. Here's what they came up with:

"Don't envy evil people or desire their company. For their hearts plot violence and their words always stir up trouble" - Proverbs 24:1-2

What Lindsey thinks: Don't hang out with evil people. Evil people get stuff quick and easy but short lived. But good people have long lasting success.

What Dustin thinks: Just be careful with who you hang out with. Your friends have a big impact on your actions.

What do you think? Please let us know any deep insights or if this verse has meant anything to you today! God Bless Ya!

Howdy! I am a junior at Texas A&M University and cannot wait for the summer to get started so that I can meet each one of the kids and get to know them better! We have a ton of things planned not only so the kids have a ton of fun but also to help them step out in their faith. It will be summer of growing and learning not only for the kids but for me as well! I hope to see you around!

Brenton Jayatilaka

G’day! My name is Brenton “Soccer Mom” Jayatilaka (I ride in the church mini-van). I am x-tremely excited about working with everyone this summer, and seriously passionate about spreading the love of God to the youth. However, I’m also looking forward to exposing the youth to the impacting side of the Gospel, and how Christ calls us to step out on our faith daily; which can sometimes be uncomfortable. I pray that by the end of this summer that not just the youth, but I also will be changed by God’s presence and the fellowship of believers at this church.

This sunday, we do not have fellowship! I KNOW CRY ABOUT IT!!!! However, June 4th , it all starts again! Woooooo hoooooo. June 4th is also an important day because we will be re-enacting a small version of Youth Sunday. I believe we will be singing "How Great is Our God" and Chesley will be giving her senior moment. The practice for this service will be May 31 (wednesday night) from 6:30-7:30.

Wednesday June 7th - Mandatory Mission Trip meeting @ 7:30pm in the youth room. Come with you balance owed and all your papers!!

Also, Start getting excited about the summer!! The calendars will be coming out very soon so be looking for them.

That's all we got.....but the Bible has got heaps more....it's a pretty good book....you should read it sometime......here's a starter:

"If you are thirsty come to me! If you believe in me, come and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within." - John 7:37-38.

Love you guys,

Kristin and Brenton
